How To Attract Hummingbirds All Summer Long
Weather is getting warmer, flowers are starting to bloom and hummingbirds are arriving in Michigan! What’s not to love about hummingbirds!? They’re delightful, tiny, and colorful. Ruby-throated hummingbirds (seen above) are the most common hummingbirds in Michigan. Other varieties of hummingbirds that are rare in Michigan but may still be spotted include:

Unlike states that may only see hummingbirds in one small region, Michiganders can spot hummingbirds no matter where they live.
Hummingbirds have no sense of smell, but they have great color vision. They are drawn towards the colors red, orange and pink since it suggests a good nectar source. Keep this in mind when purchasing flowers for your garden.
Perennials
When planting, know that hummingbirds love tubular flowers. This is because they hold the most nectar. Some examples are bee balm, coral bells, lobelia, agastache and penstemon.
